Europe v USA Ryder Cup odds

June 23, 2009

The Ryder Cup is the most famous Match Play rules Golf tournament in the World. It is a competition played every two years between the best golfers from the USA and Europe. The venue for the competition alternates between the US and Europe and the next Ryder Cup in 2010 will be stages at Celtic Manor in Wales.

The Ryder Cup is always an eagerly awaited event and one of the highlights of the sporting calendar. The matches which take place tend to be very competitive, exciting and are often decided by stroke. Each team is made up of 12 players with the captain of each team deciding the order in which the players should go out, thus making it tactical as much as anything.

The three days that the Ryder Cup is played over is made up of eight foursome matches, eight four ball matches and twelve singles matches on the final day, which often make for thrilling and dramatic viewing.

Becuase the format of the Ryder Cup is different from that of the usual tournament play rules that the normal major Golf events take together with the addition of competition between players from the different continents, the Ryder Cup is a hugely popular event both in terms of attendances on the course and viewing figures on both sides of the Atlantic. As such, Ryder Cup betting is also big news as fans look to have an additional interest. Whether backing  the US Ryder Cup Odds or European Ryder Cup Odds, i.e. backing either team to win or betting on the individual matches, there are many opportunities and becuase it is always a close call, the bookamkers odds are often appealing.
